FRENCH OR GERMAN PARTY DRESS WITH BONNET FOR 19" DOLL, CIRCA 1897-1899

This dainty frock of silk and lace has a gathered bodice with lace yoke and ruffled bretelles falling across the shoulders. The sleeves are transitional with only a vestige of the huge sleeve of the early 90's remaining as a small puff. The full-gored skirt is gathered at the back with modest fullness in front. It is trimmed with lace insertion between the gores and at the hemline. Ruffled lace edging finishes the dress at the neckline, wrists, and skirt edge. A wide ribbon sash with bow-loops adds interest to back at waistline.

Completing the costume is a pretty Normandie-style bonnet with puffed crown and a ruffle-trimmed brim that fits closely about the face. A profusion of lace, knotted-bows, and flowers enhance the bonnet of this lovely doll on her way to a Spring soiree.
