DE 703   Little Fawn

This pattern has been created to fit "Little Fawn", an original doll by artist Val Shelton. Little Fawn stands 20" tall on a cloth body with porcelain limbs. We offer two versions of our costume, which is adapted from authentic styles worn by the Blackfoot Indians of the Dakotas region. Both female and male versions of this costume are included in this pattern.

View A is a ceremonial gown created from white ultrasuede. The gown features a contrast inset across bodice front and back of turquoise colored ultra suede. Trimming the bottom edge of this contrast inset is a row of fringe made from turquoise seed beads. Lacing runs across top of sleeves, and outlines the pointed bottom edge of gown. Bottom of gown is self-fringed, and side and sleeve seams also have fringe trim. Center back closes with leather ties. Hand stitched leather moccasins and beaded necklace complete this costume.

View B is a male version of the above outfit. Shirt features similar design as described above, ending in a straight fringed bottom. Bead fringe is omitted, and self fabric fringe accented with randomly placed beads is substituted. Matching fringe trimmed pants feature contrast lacing as does the shirt. Outfit has been made from buckskin colored artificial suede fabric, and contrasting panel and accents are in red, although many other colors would be equally suitable. Note: either ultrasuede, or simulated suede fabric may be used for either view according to taste. If using simulated suede, make sure that it is the type which will not fray when cut, so that it is suitable for fringing.
