DE 458   Oriental Jade

This oriental costume has been designed for Jade, a 32" Doll by Gwen Ross. The jacket is authentic in both styling and construction, as it was copied from a piece of antique clothing from China. The jacket is made in a silk jacquard and has a side closure, extensive topstitching. Mandarin collar with piping, and frog closures. Pants are made in raw silk. Pattern and instructions are also given for shoes and headdress.

Fabric Requirements

1- 3/8 yds. 44" wide silk jacquard in oriental motif or other similar fabric for jacket, shoes

5/8 yd. coordinating raw silk fabric for pants and headpiece

1/2 yd. 1/4" wide elastic

4 frog closures

3/8 yd. piping, or cording to make piping,

1 buckram crown, (dollmaking item) approx. 5 1/2" when measured over the top

Lightweight cardboard, (giftbox weight) for shoe soles

1/4 yd. heavy buckram for headpiece

embroidered or beaded applique for headpiece

1 yd. 1/8" wide flat gold braid for headpiece

1/2 yd. 1/4" wide flat decorative braid for headpiece

2) 6" gold tassels for headpiece

white tacky glue

wooden clothespins

Optional - silk flowers and other ornamentation for headpiece
